Carpets and rugs, brought to you

If you searched for carpet shops near you, here’s the short version: we’re not a shop. Baaft Decor brings carpet, carpet tile, rug and artificial grass samples to your home or office in Hyderabad, measures the space and fits it. You see colours against your own floor and light, which is where most showroom choices go wrong. Carpets also sit alongside our wider flooring work, so if you’re weighing carpet against wooden or vinyl flooring, we can quote both. Our complete flooring guide for Hyderabad homes compares every option room by room.

Our guide on carpet tiles vs wall-to-wall carpet covers the trade-offs for offices and homes in more detail.

Fibre and pile in brief

  • Polypropylene: stain- and moisture-resistant, affordable; flattens under heavy furniture.
  • Nylon: resilient and hard-wearing; the usual choice for office carpet tiles.
  • Polyester: soft with good colour, less springy than nylon.
  • Wool: rich feel, naturally resists soiling; costs more, needs careful cleaning and protecting from moths.
  • Loop pile hides footprints and suits traffic. Cut pile is softer and suits bedrooms.

Rug construction matters as much as fibre. Machine-made rugs are the most affordable and consistent. Hand-tufted rugs have yarn punched into a backing and sheared to a cut pile, so they look rich but depend on the backing glue. Hand-knotted rugs are tied knot by knot and last longest. Flatweave dhurries are thin, often reversible and easy to wash, which suits dusty homes. Our rug buying guide covers sizes for each room, materials and care.

Which option suits which space

Living room with vitrified tiles. A rug, not wall-to-wall. Size it so the front legs of the sofa and chairs sit on it; in most apartment halls that means 6×9 ft or 8×10 ft. Use an anti-slip underlay, because tiles plus a loose rug plus a running child is a fall waiting to happen.

Bedroom. A rug under the lower two-thirds of the bed, or runners on either side. Wall-to-wall works in air-conditioned bedrooms with windows kept closed; it’s warm underfoot and quiet.

Home theatre. Wall-to-wall with a good underlay. It softens echo noticeably.

Office. Loop-pile nylon carpet tiles. Swap a stained tile by the coffee machine instead of re-carpeting the floor. See our office furnishing service for blinds and the rest of the fit-out.

Balcony and terrace. Artificial grass, after checking that the floor slopes to the outlet and the drain is clear. A 20 to 30 mm pile is enough for most balconies. On west-facing balconies, pick a lighter green and plan some shade: researchers in Melbourne measured artificial turf at 72 °C at its peak against 39 °C for natural grass, as reported in The Conversation.

In a 12×14 ft hall, an 8×10 ft rug centred on the coffee table is the size that reaches under the sofa's front legs.

Carpet tiles for offices: what to specify

If you’re fitting out an office, a few details decide how the floor looks in three years:

  • Fibre and pile. Loop-pile nylon for workstations and corridors; it resists crushing under chair castors.
  • Backing. A stable, heavy backing keeps tiles flat and stops edges curling where AC vents blow across the floor.
  • Laying pattern. Monolithic (all tiles one direction) looks closest to broadloom. Quarter-turn and ashlar (brick) patterns hide wear and small colour differences between batches.
  • Spares. Order a box of extra tiles from the same batch. A replacement tile from a later batch rarely matches exactly.
  • Chair mats. Under heavy-use desks, they noticeably extend the life of the tiles beneath.

How we work, and how long it takes

We visit with samples, check the floor for damp and level, and measure the room. For wall-to-wall carpet, we also check door clearances, since carpet plus underlay can stop a door from swinging and the door may need trimming. On balconies, we check slope and drain outlets.

Timelines are short once material is ready. Rugs in standard sizes are delivered and placed. Custom-sized rugs take longer to make, often a few weeks. A wall-to-wall bedroom usually takes half a day to a day. An office floor of carpet tiles is typically done in a day or two once furniture is cleared. A balcony of artificial grass takes a few hours.

Care in Hyderabad conditions

Vacuum twice a week, more often if there’s construction nearby. Blot spills; don’t rub. Rotate rugs every few months so afternoon sun fades them evenly. Keep carpet off floors that get damp in the monsoon. For artificial grass, rinse with water, brush the pile upright and keep drain holes clear. A professional deep clean about once a year keeps carpets fresh. For more on balconies, read our guide to artificial grass for balconies and terraces.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Baaft Decor carpet shop I can visit in Hyderabad?

No. Baaft Decor is a doorstep service, not a walk-in carpet shop or showroom. Instead of you visiting a store, we bring carpet, carpet tile, rug and artificial grass samples to your home or office, so you can see colours against your own floor and light. We measure on the same visit and give a fixed quote. Our hours are 8 AM to 10 PM, all seven days; call or WhatsApp +91 98499 17494 to book a visit.

What decides the price of a 10x12 ft carpet?

The price of a 10x12 ft carpet depends mainly on the fibre (polypropylene, polyester, nylon or wool), the pile type and density, whether it is machine-made, hand-tufted or hand-knotted, and whether it is a loose rug or wall-to-wall carpet fitted with underlay and gripper strips. Fitting, underlay and edge finishing add to wall-to-wall jobs. Baaft Decor quotes a fixed amount after seeing the room, since a 10x12 rug and a fitted 10x12 room are very different jobs.

Are carpet tiles or wall-to-wall carpet better for an office?

Carpet tiles are usually better for offices. They come as modular squares, so a stained or worn tile near a desk or doorway can be swapped without replacing the whole floor, and tiles under fixed furniture can be left in place. Loop-pile nylon tiles hold up well in high-traffic areas. Wall-to-wall carpet gives a more continuous, softer look and suits cabins, boardrooms or home theatres where traffic is lower and appearance matters more.

Is carpet a good idea in Hyderabad's heat and dust?

Carpet works in Hyderabad if you choose the right format. Construction dust and fine summer dust settle into wall-to-wall carpet, so it suits air-conditioned bedrooms, home theatres and offices with regular vacuuming. For most living rooms with vitrified tiles, area rugs are more practical because they can be lifted, beaten and cleaned. Avoid wall-to-wall carpet on ground floors that get damp during the monsoon, as trapped moisture leads to smell and mould.

Is artificial grass good for a balcony or terrace?

Artificial grass works well on balconies and terraces if the surface drains properly. Good balcony grass has a perforated backing so water passes through to the floor, and the floor needs a slight slope towards the outlet. A pile height of around 20 to 30 mm suits most balconies. Note that synthetic grass gets hot in direct afternoon sun, especially darker shades, so on west-facing Hyderabad balconies choose a lighter colour or add shade.

What size rug should I buy for a living room?

A living room rug should be large enough that at least the front legs of the sofa and chairs sit on it, which ties the seating together. In most Hyderabad apartment living rooms, that means a 6x9 ft or 8x10 ft rug rather than a small 4x6 ft one floating in the middle. Leave around 12 to 18 inches of bare floor between the rug and the walls. For L-shaped sofas, measure the open side of the L and size the rug to that.

Which carpet or rug fibre is best for homes with kids and pets?

For homes with children and pets, polypropylene and nylon are the most practical carpet and rug fibres. Polypropylene resists stains and moisture and is affordable, though it can flatten under heavy furniture. Nylon is more resilient and recovers better from foot traffic. Wool feels richer and resists soiling but costs more and needs careful cleaning. Choose a low or loop pile with a pattern or mid-tone colour, which hides crumbs and fur better than plain light shades.

How do I clean and maintain carpets and rugs?

Vacuum carpets and rugs at least twice a week in Hyderabad, more often near ongoing construction. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth rather than rubbing. Rotate rugs every few months so sunlight from west-facing windows fades them evenly. Before the monsoon, make sure carpets are not lying on damp floors. Book a professional deep clean about once a year. For artificial grass, rinse with water, brush the pile upright and keep the drain holes clear.
